In this intensive, 9-hour Zoom seminar spread over 3 days (3 hours each day), Harlene and Sheila will introduce, discuss, and provide opportunities to put constructionist theory to practice. Given the challenges we confront globally, discussion will center on exploring the practical implications of social construction while giving ample space for us to collaborate in an effort to put these ideas into practice. Special attention will be given to participants’ own projects and professional contexts. We will provide ample time for sharing and interacting.
This workshop will be useful for those familiar with social construction and relational practice as well as those new or unfamiliar with these ideas. This is an opportunity to be in conversation with others who are working in or who want to work in relational ways. It is a chance to forge connections that might help us sustain relational practices.
Harlene Anderson, PhD
Harlene Anderson is known for her engaging conversational style, and her ability to present with clarity and respect. Please join us and learn with and be inspired by her.
The workshop will focus on the what and how of Collaborative-dialogic Practice. Harlene will begin with an overview of the underlying assumptions and conceptual framework that informs the practice and its heart and spirit–the therapist’s philosophical stance. Next, she will provide a detailed presentation of the philosophical stance and its features. Harlene will demonstrate the practice with a real-time conversation with a participant-volunteer, followed with participant discussion and questions about the process.
There will be ample time for participant questions and comments and for discussion. Zoom breakout rooms will be used to give participants opportunity to reflect on their experience of the workshop as it progresses. Effort will be made to make the workshop content relevant to the participants’ practices and tailored to their interests. The workshop will be appropriate for participants who are familiar with Dr. Anderson’s practices and those new to her practices. Readings and handouts will be provided to participants prior to the workshop.

August 2021
This zoom Congress was by and for participants with workshops organized and
facilitated by 17 around the world ICCP Program directors, faculty, and
learners. They crafted a space for the inclusion, connection, and visibility of the voices of those they
serve and for Congress participants.
The organization of the Congress reflected an ICCP value: local autonomy and inclusion. We
were challenged to create a space and process for participants from multiple countries, cultures, and
languages, I was impressed by the workshops I attended and their broad range of practices across
contexts, cultures, and languages: education, organization and community development, therapy, and
research. Most impressive was the work’s illustration and commitment to a better world through
social, political, and cultural change. The Congress began and paused with plenaries by Harlene
Anderson, Kenneth Gergen, Sheila McNamee, and Jaakko Seikkula with three weeks of daily
workshops between the plenaries.

IRYSE, Relational and Socioconstructionist Consortium of Ecuador, has produced this video for the promotion and socialization of social constructionist ideas among professionals and the general public in Ecuador to generate processes of dialogue and reflection and new possibilities in local contexts.
It is the selection, editing and subtitling of the interview (and the course) presented by Harlene Anderson during her visit to Ecuador in 2018.
